Ghana Visa Requirements for German Citizens

Overview

German passport holders planning to visit Ghana must obtain a visa before departure. Whether you’re traveling for tourism, business or transit, you can apply via Ghana’s online e-Visa portal.

Visa Types

  • Tourist Visa (single-entry)
  • Business Visa (single or multiple-entry)
  • Transit Visa (up to 7 days)

General Requirements

  • Valid German passport with at least 6 months validity beyond your planned stay
  • Completed online visa application form
  • Passport-size photographs (35×45 mm, white background)
  • Yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
  • Return or onward flight itinerary
  • Evidence of sufficient funds (bank statement or sponsorship letter)

Application Process

  1. Go to the official e-Visa portal: www.ghanavisa.gov.gh
  2. Register an account and fill out the visa application
  3. Upload scanned documents (passport, photo, yellow fever certificate)
  4. Pay the visa fee with a credit/debit card
  5. Receive an electronic visa approval letter via email
  6. Print the approval letter and present it on arrival in Accra

Fees and Processing Time

Visa fees depend on the type and duration of stay:

  • Tourist Visa (single-entry): €60
  • Business Visa (multiple-entry): €100
  • Transit Visa: €30

Standard processing takes 2–5 working days. For urgent needs, a same-day service is available at an additional cost.

Health and Vaccinations

Ghana requires all travelers to present a valid yellow fever vaccination card. It’s also recommended to be up to date on hepatitis A, typhoid and routine immunizations.

On arrival at Kotoka International Airport (ACC), you will need to present:

  • Printed e-Visa approval letter
